April 14, 2025 | Aberdeen, MD
Zigglebee, an innovation company that strives to connect communities through the arts and technology, has launched its first technology product, the InfoMate™ Wristband.
Produced in an FDA-registered facility, the InfoMate™ Wristband is a patent-pending class 1 medical device that can assist with the identification, location, and information sharing on behalf of the individual wearing the wristband. The InfoMate™ Wristband helps to break down communication barriers for those needing assistance and provide quick access to critical data that can reduce intervention time for first responders, possibly saving lives.
Nearly 14% of the U.S. population has some sort of disability and 72% of those with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) live with a family caregiver.
Individuals with developmental disabilities, cognitive impairments, or psychiatric disabilities are at a heightened risk for elopement – a term defined by the National Autism Association as when one leaves a secure environment or the supervision of a responsible adult without consent – or becoming disoriented in public spaces.
Key features of the InfoMate™ Wristband include:
- A customizable, opt-in software program to share vital information and location details about the wearer when scanned – the caregiver or wearer chooses which information to share, and when
- A laser-engraved QR code linked to the user-friendly, patent pending software program provides instant access to essential information with no distance limitations
- Real-time notifications are sent to caregivers when the registered QR code is scanned, providing location details, date, and time of the scan
- A built-in compartment for an optional tracking accessory, offering an added layer of security
- Two low profile, fashionable designs available in 7 colors and come with a 10 pack of interchangeable empowerment badges the wearer can select to customize their wristband
- A commitment to quality offering a one-year warranty
- A sustainable design, with no charging required
- A low annual subscription fee of $24 per device
The InfoMate™ Wristband will be available for pre-orders beginning on April 21, World Creativity and Innovation Day, at https://zigglebee.com. The wristband will be sold for $239 with a 25% discount promotion beginning April 21 for a limited time.
Zigglebee aims to have the InfoMate™ Wristband eventually deemed a medical necessity for qualified individuals, which would make it eligible for coverage by Medicare and Medicaid.
The InfoMate™ Wristband is designed as a solution to create a more connected ecosystem of communities, first responders, healthcare workers, schools and childcare facilities, social services and more to protect children and adults alike from those with autism to those with dementia. The InfoMate™ Wristband is not limited to those with IDD – it can be used for anyone who wants peace of mind for their loved one.
“We want to train first responders, healthcare workers, parks and recs and educators on how to identify and use the InfoMate™ Wristband to deescalate and better manage situations for those who may need additional communication assistance in public. Our product is intended to work in alignment with service providers, communities, and those charged with protecting our most vulnerable neighbors. We envision the InfoMate™ Wristband integrating with the amber, silver and purple alert systems,” states Shari Bailey, owner, and Head of Product Development for Zigglebee.
In addition to training community members and service providers on how to use the InfoMate™ Wristband, Zigglebee will work with families and caregivers to maximize use of the technology including the development of an emergency crisis management plan.
“We’ve all been in situations when we had planned out how we might respond to adverse events, but when the event happens, we panic. When a family has a missing loved one, we want to make it simple for them to jump into action so we will be hosting training sessions on how to develop a crisis management plan which can be implemented with the InfoMate™ Wristband as needed,” shares Michael Nash, CEO of Zigglebee.
In addition to their roles with Zigglebee, Bailey and Nash are co-founders of Laila’s Gift, a nonprofit organization headquartered in Maryland that advocates for, supports, and celebrates children with special needs and disabilities, and their families. A portion of each InfoMate™ Wristband sale will be donated to Laila’s Gift to support free birthday and milestone celebrations for children with disabilities.
Bailey is the mom of twins Lana and Laila who inspired Laila’s Gift. Born on September 5, 2014, Lana was healthy at birth, but Laila was born with a condition called Jacobsen Syndrome. At the time, globally, there were less than 100 cases with this very rare condition.
With 25 years of experience in quality assurance and new product introductions, specifically in the healthcare manufacturing industry where she helped bring dozens of pharmaceutical and medical device products to the market, Bailey understands the needs of the patient population, their therapeutic essentials, and the standards for good manufacturing practices in alignment with regulatory requirements.
“Through my experience in corporate manufacturing, I’ve learned how essential it is to identify and address market gaps through innovations. Raising a child with special needs has illuminated various areas that require attention. The InfoMate™ Wristband is addressing one of these vital gaps by fostering connections and supporting the safety of our community members. This product launch represents a unique combination of market insight and a commitment to making a difference in our communities. We are excited about this product launch and the connections and methodical interventions it will help facilitate,” Bailey shares.
